Hello everyone!
Sorry it's been a while since I last did a post but I've been getting used to being a first time mum.
I'd like everyone to welcome the new arrival to the Walker family
Elizabeth Anne
She was born on the 29th of March at 8.01pm (8 days late) which meant that I got to be a mother on mother's day this year which was nice. She weighed 7 pound 15oz and after 42 hours of labour (from beginning of contractions to the end) I was then taken to have a c section as I just wasn't progressing as well as the hospital would of liked and after 36 hours of no sleep and no food I had had enough to be honest. She is now 7 weeks old and is a lovely healthy baby, although she did start suffering with colic/griping pain when she was 3 weeks old and it just breaks my heart to hear her cry in pain but I'm assured by friends, family members and the health visitor that it doesn't last forever and she will soon get over it.
We have tried just about everything though to help ease the trapped wind that she seems to get we tried changing her formula which didn't help we tried her on Infacol colic drops which worked for about a week and then she seemed to just get slowly worse again and occasionally chucked up her milk after being fed it also made her break out with baby acne which looked horrible because she had spots all over her face and forehead so we stopped giving her the Infacol and tried her on Dentinox colic drops she's only been on it for a day though so not sure yet if it is working as they take 3-7 days to start working properly but hopefully it will help and she will start to settle down, we've found as well on really bad days 5ml of gripe water helps to calm her down and gets her to relax long enough for her to fall sleep. The other thing we have done is we changed her bottles from Tommee Tippee bottles to Dr Brown anti Colic bottles which I have to say definitely seem to help stop her from taking in to much air and so far are definitely worth the ect money as they are not cheap to buy.
I have to say though my husband has been amazing throughout the whole pregnancy and even more so over the past 7 weeks, I don't know what I would do without him, he's great with Elizabeth and he's so understanding that sometimes I need a break after having her all day. So even after being at work he happily takes over looking after her for an hour or so while I either have a shower or read for a bit or just try to catch up on a bit of sleep (even now he's looking after her so I can write this blog post.)
I will keep you all updated with Elizabeth's progress and if you have any helpful tips, words of encouragement or even stories of your own experiences with your children ect I'd love to read them in the comments section below.
Awww honey, having your first baby is both a exciting and scary time all at once, you worry about every little thing and just keep looking at them in disbelieve there finally there and that you and your husband made her. I am a mother to two a little girl who is 7 today and a boy who is 2 and 1/2 and i would never look back, it is hard but so rewarding!!!!
