August Favourites

Hey Everyone!

Okay first of all I can't believe it is September already where has this year gone! I could of sworn I was bringing my daughter home for the first time a few weeks ago and it was actually 5 months ago!!

Anyway onto my August favourites if you would like a more in depth review on any of these products just let me know in the comments section below.

1) My first favourite has to be my Marc Jacobs dot perfume I love it! It was a present from my husband (like most of my perfumes are haha) and I have been wearing it nearly every day. I have the 50ml one which can be bought from Boots for £49.50 there is also a 30ml one for £38.50 or a bigger bottle which is 100ml for £67.50. It is a really nice floral, vanilla musk type smell that I feel can be worn day or night.

2) Second is my Bourjois Volume 1 seconde mascara you can get this mascara in either normal or waterproof I opted for waterproof as always and I am in love with this mascara it gives great length and volume and there is 0 clumping. Normally I do 2 (or 3) coats when using a different mascara but with this I would of been happy just leaving it as 1 coat (I still do 2 out of habit though) you can get it from Superdrug for £9.99 and they currently have a buy 1 Bourjois product get the 2nd half price offer going on which just makes the bargain even better.

3) Third is the Maybelline color tattoo 24hr cream gel eyeshadow in the shade On and On bronze. I have several of these but this one has to be my favourite shade as you can do a simple all over the lid smokey eye look with minimal effort. I was a little skeptical about this product before I bought it because it was a cream eyeshadow and past experiences have not been good for me when it comes to cream eyeshadows they either crease or make my lid feel sticky and heavy but I thought for £4.99 I'd give it ago and I'm so glad I did I didn't get any creasing with this product and it lasted all day.

4) Fourth is the Soap and Glory Archery brow tint and pencil, this product is so easy to use I personally prefer the felt tip side so I would recommend this to anyone who is wanting to fill in their eyebrows for the first time or for someone who wants something that they can just quickly use. I have it in the shade Brownie points, the other shade they do is Love is Blonde and you can get them again from Boots for £10

5) Fifth is another Soap and Glory product it's the Sexy mother pucker gloss stick in the shade Nudist and I bought this from Boots for £8. This is a really nice creamy product that doesn't leave your lips feeling sticky and I like the colour as it's just slightly darker than my natural lip colour so it's great to wear during the day even if I don't have a full face of makeup on and it's quick and easy to use on the go. The only thing I don't like about this product is the fact that for me (as I don't know if it's like this for everyone) the colour doesn't last long, maybe about 20 minutes or so before I have to reapply it so it seems to be more like a tinted lip balm but still I like it.

6) The last product I have loved this month is my blusher by MUA in the shade Cupcake, Again I had my doubts as to whether I would like this or not as I had never tried MUA products before and when I saw it was £1 in Superdrug I was sure the pigmentation would be poor but I thought for £1 I couldn't resist it. When I first applied the blush to my cheeks I loved how it looked the shade is great and it is very pigmented I personally have to dab it onto my cheeks with a brush so it's not too clown like. I will definitely be buying more shades.

I hope you enjoyed my August favourites and don't forget if you want a more in-depth review and swatches ect on any of these products just let me know and I will happily do it for you.

Do it yourself -Children's bedroom idea

Today's post will be short and sweet I'm afraid but I made these a few days ago and I thought I'd share the idea just in case anyone else was looking for nursery/children's bedroom ideas.

As you may know I've recently had a baby (well 4 months ago) so the other day I thought I'd have a productive day and start getting Elizabeth's nursery ready for when she's old enough to be in her own room. So I thought I'd make her some nice paintings to go on her wall.

The idea is very straightforward and simple, I got some canvas boards out of my craft room and got to work drawing pictures on them to use as an outline. I drew 4 pictures in the end Tinkerbell, Princess Aurora, Snow White and Jessie from toy story and then I painted them with normal acrylic paints.
I hope after all this effort my daughter likes them also feel free to comment letting me know what you think to them or if you have anymore ideas for nurseries or children's bedrooms as I'd love to read them.

Thanks for reading!

Soap and glory: No clogs allowed detox mask review!

Today I thought I'd do a review on the "Soap and Glory no clogs allowed deep pore detox mask" (wow that's a long title!)
I have been using this product once a week for the past few months and I have to say I'm still undecided about whether I like it enough to rebuy it or not...

According to the Soap and Glory site it deep cleans, melts away pore-plugging sebum and softens keratinised skin cells to prevent breakouts and blemishes. Just massage on, and stop when the paste changes from yellow to blue. No clogs allowed is perfect for weekly use on areas prone to blackhead build-up, or more often as a deep-oil-emulsifying, detoxifying face mask and all-round scrubby WONDER!

When I first saw this I was very intrigued (and to be honest a little nervous) with the self heating part of it but I went ahead and tried it out anyway. First of all I'd say make sure to shake it REALLY well, otherwise the product will separate and it will come out really watery.. I applied a grape sized amount all over my face (avoiding my eyes) and massaged it in. I wouldn't say it was yellow like they do on the Soap and Glory site it's more of a greeny, grey colour and it smells to me a little bit like hair dye but it's not a strong unpleasant smell and it has a fine grit in it so it doesn't feel like you're scrubbing away at your face. After my face was covered I wet my fingers and started to rub again, it definitely changed colour to a light blue and it is quite an unusual feeling, and much warmer than I expected, but not uncomfortably hot. It only warms up the first time you wet and scrub it, after that it cools back down, finally I waited 5 minutes and washed it off with a wet cloth.

RESULTS!
It made my skin feel super soft (like baby skin soft) so I think it definitely gave my face a deep clean, it did leave my cheeks slightly red and blotchy though for a few hours after each use (I looked a little flushed) but I'm not sure if that's just due to the heat or if my skin just isn't keen on one of the ingredients as I wouldn't class my skin as sensitive so I think if you do have sensitive skin maybe stay away from this product or do a skin test first!
Price wise I think it's not bad at £11.50 a tube as it does seem to last a while with it being only a once a week treatment and you can sometimes buy it cheaper on Amazon.

I hope you found this review useful and I would love to read in the comments below if you have tried this out and what you thought of it or if you have any other recommendations for face masks that I could try and maybe do another review on in a month or so!

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau so Fresh review!

Not many of you will know this but it was my birthday recently and one of the presents I received from my husband was the Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau so Fresh perfume so I thought I would do a review of my opinion on it!

First of all I LOVE this perfume it is exactly what the perfume name suggests, fresh! I think it is the perfect perfume to wear in the spring/summer months as it has a very fruity, floral scent but I think it's not to overpowering like a lot of floral scented perfumes can be.

Fragrance Notes
Top Notes: Natural Raspberry, Grapefruit, Pear
Heart Notes: Violets, Wild Rose, Apple Blossom
Base Notes: Musks, Cedarwood, Plum

The packaging is great I love it. It has rubber daisies on the lid which I think is so cute and different and I have to say it looks great sat on your dressing table!

It is a bit on the pricey side but it's currently on offer at Amazon for £43.95 for a 75ml bottle

The scent I'd say is medium lasting I find it lasts about 6-8 hours or so before I feel I need to spray anymore on.

I hope you found this review to be helpful, feel free to leave comments about what you think of this perfume or if you have any suggestions about other perfumes that you personally like or that you think I'd like let me know.

Thanks for reading!

New arrival!

Hello everyone!

Sorry it's been a while since I last did a post but I've been getting used to being a first time mum.
I'd like everyone to welcome the new arrival to the Walker family
Elizabeth Anne
She was born on the 29th of March at 8.01pm (8 days late) which meant that I got to be a mother on mother's day this year which was nice. She weighed 7 pound 15oz and after 42 hours of labour (from beginning of contractions to the end) I was then taken to have a c section as I just wasn't progressing as well as the hospital would of liked and after 36 hours of no sleep and no food I had had enough to be honest.

She is now 7 weeks old and is a lovely healthy baby, although she did start suffering with colic/griping pain when she was 3 weeks old and it just breaks my heart to hear her cry in pain but I'm assured by friends, family members and the health visitor that it doesn't last forever and she will soon get over it.
We have tried just about everything though to help ease the trapped wind that she seems to get we tried changing her formula which didn't help we tried her on Infacol colic drops which worked for about a week and then she seemed to just get slowly worse again and occasionally chucked up her milk after being fed it also made her break out with baby acne which looked horrible because she had spots all over her face and forehead so we stopped giving her the Infacol and tried her on Dentinox colic drops she's only been on it for a day though so not sure yet if it is working as they take 3-7 days to start working properly but hopefully it will help and she will start to settle down, we've found as well on really bad days 5ml of gripe water helps to calm her down and gets her to relax long enough for her to fall sleep. The other thing we have done is we changed her bottles from Tommee Tippee bottles to Dr Brown anti Colic bottles which I have to say definitely seem to help stop her from taking in to much air and so far are definitely worth the ect money as they are not cheap to buy.

I have to say though my husband has been amazing throughout the whole pregnancy and even more so over the past 7 weeks, I don't know what I would do without him, he's great with Elizabeth and he's so understanding that sometimes I need a break after having her all day. So even after being at work he happily takes over looking after her for an hour or so while I either have a shower or read for a bit or just try to catch up on a bit of sleep (even now he's looking after her so I can write this blog post.)

I will keep you all updated with Elizabeth's progress and if you have any helpful tips, words of encouragement or even stories of your own experiences with your children ect I'd love to read them in the comments section below.

Mini Lush haul

Hello everyone!!

Well another week has gone by and baby Walker is still not here so to help cheer me up my husband went out last week and bought me some Lush products to enjoy so I thought I'd make this weeks blog a mini Lush haul!

The first Lush item that I used was a bubble bar called "The Comforter." (£4.50)
If you've never had a bubble bar before you simply break it in half and crumble it under the running tap and it creates ALOT of bubbles.
The Comforter smells amazing and makes your bath water turn a light purple colour it's described on the Lush website that it has a blackcurrent smell but to me it just smelt sweet and slightly fruity but not sickly sweet it's definitely a bubble bar that you can relax with.
The next bubble bar that I tried was called "Brightside" (£4.50) (I forgot to take a picture before breaking a bit off..sorry!)
The Brightside bubble bar smells as the colour suggests like oranges, it has tangerine and mandarin oil in it and it smells divine, it made my bath water turn bright orange and it left me feeling refreshed and more awake after using it.

This next one is a bath bomb called "Dragon's egg" (£3.25)
If you've never used a bath bomb before you can either just pop it in your bath and leave it to fizz or you can hold it under your bath water and kind of swish it about until it's dissolved.
The dragon egg bath bomb is one of my favourites because not only does it smell like lemon sherbet but it has different layers of colour in it you get the white layer first that releases dissolving dragon’s scales (rice paper confetti) and crackling popping candy then a yellow/orange coloured layer and then a golden section in the middle which has a shimmer to it. When fully dissolved it makes your bath water turn orange/gold coloured with a definite shimmer to it but it doesn't leave you covered in glitter when you get out of the bath!
It has lemon oil in it as well which is an antibacterial so it helps clear your skin.

The last bath bomb that my husband got me is called "Sex Bomb" (£3.25) he got this due to a recommendation from the lady that worked at Lush she said that it contains Clary sage oil which can help women who are late on in their pregnancy. It also has Jasmine oil in it which is used in aromatherapy to ease stress and anxiety and Ylang Ylang oil which is renowned for soothing worries and is used in aromatherapy to help treat depression.
Like the dragon egg bath bomb it had rice paper petals in it which turn into a white jelly petal which I wasn't to keen on having floating around my bath water but that's just my opinion!

I hope you liked my mini Lush haul and I would love to know what your favourite Lush items are and why so feel free to share it in the comments section below.

My cat

Hello everyone!!

This is my cat Willow, she's 2 years old and we've had her since she was a kitten. The toy mouse she has in the picture is her favourite thing in the world she carries it everywhere and won't sleep without it. She's a lovely cat to have and she's a great addition to our little family and hopefully she won't be to grumpy with us when our baby girl arrives!

Welcome

Hello everyone!

I have finally decided to make a blog mainly because I'm currently on maternity leave and I think it will help me to stay sane will my husband is busy at work.
This space will be dedicated to crafts that I either have made or would like to make and some tips and tutorials on how to make them, I will also be posting about products that I have tried and either like or don't like and maybe also a bit of gossip about things going on in my life. Either way I hope you enjoy it!
